Chandler Harris

The claim that our birth experiences shape us holds true for me.

After one of the births of my own, in Jan 2020, I answered the undeniable call to support others during their pregnancies and birth journeys. That birth made me realize I needed to help make this kind of care more accessible to birthers in Alabama. I couldn’t say no.

Women’s health and pregnancy has always been a love of mine. For years, I have offered advice and an ear to listen to friends and acquaintances. I, myself, have had one planned hospital birth and two midwife-attended home births. Each of them have taught me so much about the power birth holds and the respect it demands. My personal experiences with birth and years of witnessing others has really shaped who I am as a midwife. If I leave anyone after they’ve had their baby and they say “I couldn’t have done it without you!” I don’t believe I did my job as well as I could have. I want you, and all birthers, to be assured of YOUR own power. The realization that you have everything you need inside of yourself. You just need the people there with you to believe and trust that, whole heartedly.

It is my sincerest hope that you get the birth that you want.. and need. Making a thoughtful, informed decision concerning a birth team and setting is so empowering - AND tied to healthy, healing outcomes for mother and baby. It is such a balm to my soul and I am so honored to be a part of that process for people.
